Would you like to help develop new industry linked materials?

We are looking for D&T teachers who would like to help us test teaching resources which have been generated through the Skills Gap Programmes with Airbus & Ysgol Clywedog and ADI Group and Handsworth Wood Girls’ Academy.

The two programmes will be completed by the end of this term and the teaching resources will then be prepared for online access, comprising  a mix of video and explanatory notes, similar to the resources already available at www.skillsgapprogramme.org.uk.  To help ensure the teaching resources are shareable and that it is possible to teach them without direct company input, we are looking for D&T teachers who would like to help by testing the material and feeding back into an evaluation.  The same process was followed for the current online teaching resources for programmable components and manufacturing in quantity where teachers at Fair Oake Academy in Staffordshire taught the material and teachers at Alsop High School in Liverpool provided feedback.  This was a really helpful part of the process before launching the materials and we would like to open this up to other D&T teachers who may like to get involved.

The programme between Ysgol Clywedog & Airbus has been undertaken by teachers and students studying the BTEC in Engineering and is focusing upon fault finding, production approaches and quality.  The project with Handsworth Wood Girls Academy & ADI Group has been focusing upon designing a new canteen space for ADI Group and using SketchUp (CAD).  Both programmes will contain powerpoints, lesson plans etc for a 7 – 10 week scheme of work and we would like D&T teachers to come forward if they feel they may be able to take the time to review the materials and feedback their comments.  The testing will take place during the spring term.

We are looking for up to 8 teachers from different schools to get involved.  A feedback sheet will be issued along with the material to contribute to the evaluation.  Upon receipt of your detailed feedback we will be able to make a £50 donation to your School’s D&T department as a token of our thanks for your time and support.

To register your interest in the scheme, please contact the Design and Technology Association using the contact form or by calling 01789 470 007.
